THE NEED

Food insecurity is defined as the lack of access, at times, to enough food for an active, healthy life. Food insecurity is associated with numerous adverse social and health outcomes and is increasingly considered a critical public health issue.

In Miami-Dade County 10.4% of the population experiences food insecurity, while 72% of the food insecure individuals fall below SNAP, other nutrition programs threshold.

RESTAURANT FUNDRAISING PROGRAM

The Genuine Hospitality Group (Amara at Paraiso, Michael's Genuine) and The River Oyster Bar have partnered with Rethink Food to sustainably and equitably build a better local food system in Miami.

Through our fundraising partnership, these restaurants add a small donation to each diners cover to fund the preparation of meals by local restaurants. These meals are then distributed to local community based organizations, who service communities impacted by food insecurity.

Since December 2021, our flagship Miami partner The Genuine Hospitality Group has fundraised over $700K+, equating to over 140K+ meals to communities in need.

This effort demonstrates how businesses and non-profit organizations can leverage their existing infrastructure to make lasting change.
